Russian history is not the most frequently used topic for online slot games, but the country has seen a few slots based on it as of late, and there’s another for the collection in the shape of Romanov Riches, one of the newest slots from Microgaming.
Taking Russia’s Romanov Dynasty as its theme, this new Microgaming slot feels unique in its tone, but does it offer enough to be exciting?
About the slot
With five reels and 15 paylines, Romanov Riches is playable from 20p to £100 a spin on all compatible desktop, mobile, and tablet devices.
Decadence was at the core of the Romanov era, and it’s well represented here, with four gems on the reels playing the higher value symbols, with the wild being represented by a snowflake, replacing all other symbols, and the 10, J, Q, K, and A symbols finish off the pack, playing the part of the lower value symbols.
This is a good looking slot, while not having anything particularly innovative, the original concept and well executed artwork more than makes up for it.
Gameplay
There is a stack of Mystery Symbols on all five of the reels, with each Mystery Symbol being replaced by the same symbol when they land.
If two or more stacks land fully and adjacently from reel one, they will lock into place for a re-spin, more stacks will trigger further re-spins.
Land three or more Bonus Stacks from reel one and you’ll trigger one, two, or three bonus wheels, depending on whether the feature was triggered by three, four, or five stacks.
The first two wheels will reveal cash prizes, while the third will reveal up to a 10x multiplier, meaning there’s up to 1,000x your stake to be won.
Romanov Riches is a fun slot with a lot going for it and an interesting theme, well worth a look.
