Dynamite Diggin Doug, developed by Pragmatic Play in collaboration with Reel Kingdom, is due for release in July 2024. Players are taken on an underground adventure with Doug, the charismatic, bearded miner, on a quest to uncover hidden treasures. The game combines adventure, fun, and dynamic features that deliver instant prizes and a cart full of treasure.

About Dynamite Diggin Doug

Set deep within a mine shaft, the cartoon-style graphics are colourful but not outstanding and seem a tad old school, something we often see in Reel Kingdom slots. However, cheerful Doug is visible at the side of the reels, chivvying you along on the quest to unearth the hidden treasure. In the background are artefacts relevant to mining including lanterns, pickaxes, and mining carts, creating an authentic atmosphere. The reels sit centrally on the screen and include low-value card suits and higher-value symbols like a spade, lanterns, pickaxes, and mining carts. The most lucrative symbol is Doug, paying up to 100x the bet for 5 matching symbols. There doesn’t appear to be a wild in Dynamite Diggin Doug, but there is a scatter.

The game features a classic 5×3 grid with 10 fixed paylines. It’s available on desktop and mobile devices from 10p up to £250 per spin. The slot is highly volatile, so beware, while there are three RTPs of 96.52%, 95.52%, and 94.52%. The maximum you can win is 3,000x the bet.

Dynamite Diggin Doug Gameplay

Dynamite Diggin Doug has various features, including Instant Dynamite Prizes, the Dynamite Bonus, and a Bonus Buy option.

Instant Dynamite Prizes

To the left of the reels is a list of prizes ranging from 0.5x to 100x the bet, including bronze, silver, and gold bonuses. Next to each prize is a number, and when a number of dynamite symbols land, the corresponding prize is awarded. Doug can appear randomly on the reels, and when he does, he sets off a detonator and awards a prize.

Dynamite Diggin Doug Bonus

To trigger the Dynamite Bonus, you’ll need 3 or more scatters. The bonus operates on a special grid where only dynamite symbols and blank spaces land. It begins with 3 respins and resets when a new symbol lands. A lit fuse is visible at the side of the grid, and it grants multipliers once the fuse burns out.

This time, when new dynamite symbols land, the dynamite symbols on the grid drop down one position, and the fuse burns one step. Doug collects any dynamite prizes that fall off the bottom of the grid and throws them back on the reels, increasing the existing prizes or adding new prizes or multipliers.

For 100x the bet, you can buy into the Dynamite Bonus.

Doug Conclusion

Where do we begin with Dynamite Diggin Doug? It’s a bit of a shocker, to be honest. Reel Kingdom is famous for the Big Bass series, one of Pragmatics’ most popular series of slots, so what went wrong with Dynamite Diggin Doug, exactly? The graphics are somewhat old-fashioned, the base game slow, and the lower-than-average max win of 3,000 the bet is nothing to write home about. That said, it is a fun slot with Doug present by the reels and appearing randomly with his detonator to award prizes is a nice touch.  I’m not going to write off this slot, it is worth a spin or two, but I feel many slot developers are running out of ideas after a run of slots featuring highly intricate features, where do they go from there? If you are a fan of mining-inspired slots, Dynamite Diggin Doug is an option.
