Yggdrasil, in partnership with Peter & Sons, have just released their highly anticipated new slot, Johnan Legendarian. This is a really bright, bold design with crisp graphics and detailed symbols. It makes a nice change from all the Egyptian or Greek mythology themed slots out there. There are two stone carved columns either side of the transparent reels and a blue and purple light in the background. There is a creepy wizard character to the left with a glowing orb in his hand and also Johnan, who looks like a superhero character with his muscular body and chiselled jaw.

Symbols are 10 to A royals, swords, a dragon, a warthog, bow and arrows which are worth between 50x and 200x your stake for 5 on a payline.

Gameplay and Features

The creepy wizard is the scatter and landing 3 on the reels triggers the free spins round. A random symbol is then selected to become the expanding symbol and if these form a win, they expand to fill the reels. Each time you retrigger the round, another expanding symbol is chosen. If you manage to keep retriggering, you could have all 10 symbols as expanding. However, when you do retrigger the free spins, they reset back to 10 rather than receiving an additional 10.

Pairs of scatters are collected in a meter and when you’ve collected 385 pairs, you’re given 10 additional free spins. This time, the free spins are added to your free spin total, rather than resetting.

Verdict

This is a solid effort from this software developer partnership. The design is excellent and the 5000x win from the bonus round is decent too. However, the respins resetting back to 10 is a little disappointing. Still worth checking out though, especially if you enjoy the ‘book of’ slots.
