Beam Boys is a new slot for February 2024 developed by Hacksaw Gaming. Meet an amusing cat with the power to fire laser beams from its eyes. What makes this slot unique is the ability to switch volatility levels to suit your preference. Beam Boys combines an excellent soundtrack with the chance to win up to 12,000x the bet.
Design, Theme, and Symbols
Set in a dark alley, Beam Boys features a skinny black cat swaying playfully beside the reels. The design is simple yet effective, with shades of black, blue, and grey dominating the screen, creating a unique visual experience that complements this quirky theme.
The lower value symbols are the basic card suits where six of a kind award 0.5x the bet. The higher-paying symbols include a rat, crow, fish, rabbit, and snake, awarding payouts between 0.8x and 2x for six-of-a-kind. The Wild symbol is the laser-shooting cat, and he appears on reels 2 through 6 and pays 5x the bet for a six in a combination. Additionally, the Scatter symbol, marked by the letters “FS”, triggers the Free Spins feature.
The game boasts an above-average Return to Player (RTP) of 96.35%, providing a fair chance of returns over time. Betting options are flexible, starting from 10p up to £100 per spin. The top prize of 12,000x the bet provides the potential for significant wins.
Gameplay and Features
Volatility Switch
Beam Boys introduces a unique feature where you customise the gameplay through the Volatility Switch. Once active, you simply toggle between Normal and Extreme Volatility, adjusting the game’s risk and reward profile to suit your own game preferences.
If the wild appears on reels 2 and 4 it shoots a laser beam across the entire row to the left, transforming all symbols in that row into Wilds, significantly enhancing winning potential.
Free Spins
Landing three or more Scatters anywhere on the reels triggers the Free Spin. The number of free spins you are awarded depends on the number of triggering scatters. Wild symbols land more frequently during the free spins, increasing the chances of securing larger payouts. This feature can be retriggered by landing 3 or more scatters.
Bonus Buy
For players outside the UK, Beam Boys has a Bonus Buy feature with four options, allowing direct access to various aspects of the game, including increased chances of triggering the Bonus Game and guaranteed Wild symbols.
Conclusion
Hacksaw Gaming have pulled it out of the bag again with Beam Boys. It offers a unique theme, engaging mechanics, and the flexibility to adjust volatility according to your personal preferences. The cat, shooting laser beams from its eyes, is a unique feature, transforming symbols into wilds to help generate bigger win potential. Although the design is not the usual style of Hacksaw Gaming, the exciting features more than compensate and are well worth a spin or two.
