Electrocoin Big Hit With Bar-X Slot Machine

Bar-X is a slot machine model made by Electrocoin back in 1981. The idea was to design a machine that was easy to use, had a good "hit" frequency, and made players feel in control. The first rough concept was called OXO.

1982 it went into full production with the Japanese gaming company Universal Entertainment Corporation. The first versions were made in Japan and released under the OXO Americana Cabinet brand name, with Super OXO in a casino-style cabinet.

About a hundred of Electrocoin's initial run of Bar-X machines was produced at their factory on Ferry Road, Cardiff, Wales. These units featured a newer payout technology and a revamped cabinet design.

By 1983, Bar-X had become a staple in UK amusement arcades. That same year, they added Big 7 to the lineup, and since then, the Bar-X family has been a permanent fixture in nearly every major gaming venue across the UK. Many top figures in the gaming industry have called it the best machine of all time.

iGaming Partnerships

One of Electrocoin's key collaborations is with Realistic Games, a renowned casino content developer. This partnership involves adapting Electrocoin's iconic land-based slot games for online play. Popular titles such as the Bar-X series, Magic 7, and Big 7 have been transformed into online versions, maintaining the retro feel and nostalgia of the originals while being presented in Realistic Games' signature 3D cabinets.

Realistic Games and Electrocoin have worked together to develop new content, including the Bar-X Game Changer and Super Bar-X Game Changer, which feature innovative board game bonus rounds and instant win Pull Tab games. This partnership aims to bring the classic arcade experience to a broader online audience while celebrating the long-standing heritage of Electrocoin's games.
