Software developers have been creating more futuristic games, with sleek 3d graphics and top-notch imagery. However, Super Bar X takes you right back in time to when slot machines and fruit machines first became popular. The reels are set within the body of an actual slot machine and although look pretty basic, this adds to the authenticity. The layout is a 3 x 4 design with 4 active paylines. Symbols are simply Os which are blockers, Xs and Bars. The Xs and Bars are what you need to land. There are no other additional bonus symbols at all.
Gameplay and Features
With no additional bonus features or symbols, the gameplay revolves around the holds and nudges. Each time you spin and don’t land a winning combination, the random nudge feature can be activated, allowing you to nudge a reel 3 times. The nudge with move the reel down 1 position each time in the hope of forming a win. If you still don’t win anything during this feature, an ‘I can do better’ bonus can be activated at random to give you an extra nudge in order to try and win.
If you win on a nudge, the Hold feature can then be activated randomly, allowing you to hold down reels and re-spins to try and win once more.
Verdict
Super Win X is clearly designed to appeal to lovers of retro slot machines and doesn’t try to steer out of its lane. It won’t appeal to all players as there simply aren’t the features or innovations we’re used to seeing in new slot releases, but for those who love a classic, it’s worth a spin.
