Halloween 2020 is almost upon us and software provider Greentube/Novomatic have developed an exciting new video slot named Spooky Spells. The game is very similar to a previous Novomatic slot Spooky House so I’m not sure if this title is a sequel?
With Halloween in mind, Spooky Spells is a classic designed slot inspired by a bunch of charming Witches. Features include Free Spins, Multipliers, Jackpots, cash prizes, a Gamble feature and a potential maximum payout of 1,000x the stake.
About Spooky Spells
The slot is medium volatility with RTP set at 95.18%. Played across 5 reels, 3 rows with 243 ways to win, Spooky spells is available to play across all devices from 25p up to £50 per spin.
Spooky Spells has a traditional Halloween theme. The reel set is lit by moonlight with a creepy house and a withered old tree. The reels are framed in stone and symbols include 10-A royals, skulls, candles, a potion bottle, an hourglass, a broom and a pretty blond witch, she is the highest paying symbol awarding 8x your stake for 5 across a payline.
The cauldron is the Wild and substitutes all symbols, it appears stacked if it lands on reels 2 and 4.
Gameplay and Features
Winning combinations come after landing 3 or more matching symbols across a payline. There are a few exciting extras in Spooky Spells, if a wild appears stacked on reels 2 or 4 it covers the whole reel and this will trigger the Bonus Prize feature.
There are 3 cauldrons on offer, to reveal a prize you must choose one, whichever you choose could give you up to a 10x multiplier, a Jackpot prize or entry into the free spins feature.
Free Spins trigger after 3 scatter symbols land on reels 1, 3 and 5. You are awarded 10 free spins and a 2x multiplier is added to any winnings from the feature.
Jackpots trigger after 6 or more black bats land on the reels. A new reel set now comes into play with only bat symbols. The bats are held in position and 3 re-spins are awarded. More bats landing also lock and the re-spins revert back to 3. The bats contain cash values of up to 15x the stake or a jackpot, the Mini pays 20x, the Minor pays 30x, or Major pays 5x. If you fill all the spaces with bats, the Grand Jackpot is won awarding 200x the stake.
Spooky Spells also includes a Gamble feature where you have a chance to double the win or lose it all.
Verdict
Spooky Spells is a super looking slot with colourful graphics and an equally appealing, magical soundtrack. I really enjoyed the gameplay with Halloween just around the corner, it’s a great slot to get you in the mood for a bit of trick or treating!. The multipliers in the Free Spins will help to boost wins and the most you can expect to win is 1,000x the stake.
