It may just be the similarity of the names of the two developers that sometimes makes it feel like Play’n Go and Playtech are in direct war with each other, but there are definite signs.
Playtech have made their name through their Age of Gods series in recent years, and now Play’n Go has turned their own hand to the theme (admittedly, not for the first time) with Rise of Olympus, an epic themed slot that looks destined to go to war with Age of Gods.
About the slot
A five reel slot with a decent 94.51% RTP, Rise of Olympus is playable from 20p to £100 a spin on all compatible desktop, mobile, and tablet devices.
In terms of how the slot looks, it’s classic Play’n Go, in fact, it seems like a rework of Moon Princess for those who found the theme of the latter somewhat tacky.
Gods stand beside the reels, while the three main Gods of the game, Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus, are also the higher value symbols, although each loses out to the wild symbol, which pays 50x your stake for five on a payline.
Helmets, lightning bolts, tridents, and more themed imagery fill out the rest of the symbols on the reels.
Gameplay
There are two main features here.
Firstly, the Hand of God feature, which triggers randomly after a non-winning spin, with the Gods each adding a different modifier to aid with wins.
The Wrath of Olympus feature triggers when meters are fully charged, Gods will bless the reels, raising the chances to enter the Free Spins feature, which has an ever-growing multiplier throughout, and extra spins after every losing spin.
This is an oddly complex game, as making symbols disappear can be as lucrative as landing them on the reels, it feels a little like Play’n Go has tried too hard, and just ended up making Moon Princess again, only worse.
