Power of Thor Megaways

Pragmatic Play have gone back to their roots with another Megaways slot based on the ever-popular Norse mythology. Power of Thor Megaways was released in March 2021, with its HD cartoon style graphics, RTP of 96.97% and top prize of 5000x your stake.

The betting range is between 20p and £100 a spin and it features cascading wins, the megaways mechanic, free spins, multipliers, wilds, scatters and a risk/double up game. Set on a 6×7 grid, Power of Thor Megaways is available to play on all devices.

Power of Thor Megaways Design

This is a visually impressive design, with green hills and mountains in the distance, trees, blue skies and various Viking related artifacts around. The orchestral soundtrack adds to the atmosphere too.

Symbols consist of 9 to A royals in a Norse style font, along with 4 premium symbols, the most valuable of which is Thor, paying 20x your stake for 6 on a payline.

There is a scatter which activates the free spins round and a wild, which only appears at the top of the central 4 reels, along with Thor’s hammer which delivers stacked wilds.

Gameplay and Features

When you land a winning combo, the winning symbols are removed and new ones cascade down to fill their spaces. If you form another win, this action repeats and continues until no more wins are formed.

Thor’s hammer can land at the top of the central reels and when it does, it’s 2 symbols wide. The reels underneath then turn wild and hopefully will boost your winnings.

When scatter symbols land and spell out THOR, the free spins round is triggered and you’ll begin with at least 10 free spins. You can start with up to 30 free spins if further scatters landed on the triggering spin.

If you got between 10 and 18 free spins, you get to gamble, by spinning a wheel to either win 4 more free spins or lose all your free spins. If you gamble and win, you can get up to 22 extra free spins.

During this round, a 1x increasing multiplier is in play with no limit on the maximum multiplier you can reach.

Verdict

This is an excellent, atmospheric slot, with an above average RTP and engaging gameplay. The 5000x max win is great, but on the low side for a megaways slot. That probably won’t put players off though.
