Although the market is flooded with Monopoly-themed slots from various providers, Big Time Gaming has done enough with their Megapots version to allow it to stand tall in a crowded market. Although some aspects of the Monopoly Megapots slot are familiar, like the Monopoly man and tokens, the grid design and layout are not. The slot has 6 reels and between 2 and 7 rows per spin. Design and Symbols
The design deviates from the traditional Monopoly board, instead presenting an Art Deco-style golden grid on a red background. Features
The features available in Monopoly Megapots include Wilds, Cascades, Hold and Spin, Free Spins, Megapots and a Bonus Buy-In.
Wilds and Cascades
The Wild is a substitute for regular symbols to help with winning combos. It only appears in the extra reel beneath the main reels. The Wild cannot substitute the Scatter, Coin, House or Card symbols.
After a winning combination lands, a cascade triggers and the winning symbols are removed to allow new symbols to drop into the empty spaces. The Cascades continue until no more win’s land.
Hold and Spin
The Hold and Spin feature triggers if 6 or more Coins, Cards or Houses land on a spin. The 6 triggering symbols lock on the reels for 3 respins. Each additional symbol locks on the reels and resets the respin counter.
During the respins, if 3 matching cards land, they transform into a Megapots Coin. 3 matching Coin triggers its Megapot. Each Megapot value changes on each spin. If 4 houses land, they transform into a Hotel, leaving multipliers behind and collecting all the coins on the reels. If a Coin lands on a Multiplier, its value is added to the Coin.

Verdict
Monopoly Megapots has a lot going for it on paper, and to be fair, Big Time Gaming has done more with the licence than most. Moving away from the standard board game layout makes it more unique, and the Megaways setup, combined with a 98,850x max win, gives it a head start. The numbers are strong, and the Hold and Spin feature is the highlight, especially having the Megapots tied in.
That said, it doesn’t escape the feeling of familiarity. The core structure of cascades, respins, and collection mechanics all follow a well-trodden path, and while everything works, there’s nothing new. The Free Spins, despite the unlimited multiplier, don’t quite match the impact of the Hold and Spin round, which is the most lucrative aspect of the slot.
The Megapot system is the standout. Tying jackpots to symbol combinations within the Hold and Spins feature gives the bonus round a more purpose. It’s where the slot is most focused, and where the potential lines up best with the top-end win.
