Slot lovers looking for something a little more unusual, take a look at Evoplay’s February 2021 release, Mehen. This unusual design features orbital reels, multipliers and an RTP of 95.8%. It has a low to medium volatility with wagering from 10p up to £100 a spin, and is playable on desktop, tablets and smartphones.
Mehen Design
The first thing to strike you about Mehen is the unusual layout. It has orbital reels and at first glance, looks like a circular maze. The background is a dark grey stone wall and in it are the reels which are actually a snake.
The aim of the game is to make your way towards the centre of the snakes head, and the design is a refreshing change to the usual slot layout. Considering it has an Ancient Egyptian theme, it is nothing like all the other Egyptian style slots.
The graphics are good although the design is a little dark in colour, it’s a decent effort.
Gameplay and Features
This game centres on the multipliers up for grabs. You have a green coin symbol to work your way through the snake. You roll the dice and move the number of spaces indicated. As you do this, there is also a bot that you have to beat as they try and beat you to the centre.
If you or the bot land on the orange symbol, it takes you back to the start. But if you land on the green symbol, it takes you to another cell. The Iron symbol allows you to free the bot for 1 spin, but if you land in the white wraps symbol, you’ll miss a go and the bot will have your spin.
If you land a 6 on the dice, you get to throw the dice again, but this can’t be repeated. At the centre of the snake is a 50x multiplier which you have to reach.
Verdict
Mehen definitely feels more like a board game than a slot, but the unusual design and gameplay will appeal to anyone wanting a more unique game experience. There are also plenty of multipliers to give decent payouts and it’s nice to see a developer think outside the box in terms of design.
