Is Max more Max if you spell it with more ‘A’s? It doesn’t seem likely, but Gamomat certainly seems to think so, if new slot Maaax Diamonds: Christmas Edition is anything to go by at least.

The original Maaax Diamonds slot was not exactly industry changing, with bars, 7s, and other predictable symbols on the reels, and a basic, unimpressive design.
In fact, the only interesting thing about Maaax Diamonds was the fact that despite the name and logo, there are no diamonds on the reels. This isn’t a good thing, but it is, at least, a surprise.
Maaax Diamonds: Christmas Edition is basically the same, but with snow. The same 8-bit soundtrack and blocky graphics are present, but the lack of innovation of originality of any kind doesn’t make this slot feels retro, it just makes it feel old.
Gameplay
This version of the slot has a diamond, it’s the diamond wild, and it only appears on the middle three reels, although it will expand to fill the whole payline when it does.
The diamond will then act as a wild symbol and, well, that’s it actually. Apart from a couple of optional gamble features that follow a win, there’s nothing else in terms of gameplay here.
Maaax Diamonds: Christmas Edition is just as much of a disappointment as its predecessor, just this time that disappointment comes in a Santa hat, which isn’t really enough to make up for the lacklustre theme and gameplay.
