In and Out is a video slot developed by NetEnt, released on the 18th June 2026. This is NetEnt’s attempt at a heist-themed slot, taking players to the streets of Paris in pursuit of diamonds, cash, and high-value rewards. Chloe takes the lead role as a sophisticated Parisian thief, with her latest diamond heist driving the action throughout with expanding reels, avalanche wins, and the signature Heist Mode.
While the crime theme is hardly earth-shattering, NetEnt has approached it with flair compared to many of its competitors. The Parisian setting, cinematic graphics, storytelling, and soundtrack give it a distinct identity.
Players familiar with Hacksaw Gaming’s Le Bandit and similar coin collection slots will recognise the underlying mechanics. NetEnt has combined those ideas with an expanding grid, Avalanche wins, position upgrades, and Heist Mode to create a unique structure
Technical Features
Released by NetEnt on 18th June 2026, In & Out has a 6-reel, 5-row layout that expands to a maximum of 8×7 during gameplay. The game uses a scatter-pays system instead of traditional paylines, with wins awarded for landing 8 or more matching low-value symbols or 6 or more matching high-value symbols anywhere on the grid.
It is available on desktop and mobile devices, with bets ranging from 20p to £40 per spin and a default RTP of 96.08%, which is around the industry average. In & Out has medium volatility and a hit frequency of 24.97%, with maximum payouts capped at 12,086x the bet.
NetEnt has included a Bonus Mode and a Feature Buy option; however, neither is available to UK players.
Design
Before diving into the design, it’s worth noting that NetEnt pioneered Avalanche wins with Gonzo’s Quest back in 2014. More than a decade later, In & Out builds on the same principle, with an expanded grid and a new set of features.
The action unfolds inside a Parisian Museum after dark, where Chloé has already completed another successful robbery. The opening scene features Chloé perched outside, bathed in moonlight, cigarette in hand, while the Eiffel Tower rises in the background. Once the reels appear, the setting moves indoors, with a display cabinet protecting a diamond tiara on one side of the grid and an Egyptian sarcophagus on the other. The semi-transparent reels allow the museum backdrop to remain visible throughout the game, adding depth without distracting from the action. The soundtrack follows the same approach. Soft jazz and orchestral pieces replace the dramatic music often found in crime-themed slots, lending the game a more refined atmosphere suited to its Parisian setting.
Symbols
The symbols follow the heist theme from start to finish. Lower-paying symbols include gloves, a flashlight, a lock pick, a crowbar, and a hook. Landing 12 or more matching symbols awards between 1.5x and 1.75x the bet.
Premium symbols include a necklace, a blue gemstone, a ring, ruby earrings, and a diamond tiara. 12 matching symbols award between 3x and 5x the bet. Chloé is the highest-value character symbol and plays a key role during one of the bonus features.
Several special symbols appear throughout the game. The Wild Symbol substitutes for regular symbols to help complete winning combinations, while the Bomb Symbol expands the playing grid. Bonus and Super Bonus Scatter Symbols trigger the Free Spins feature, with the Super Bonus Symbol awarding additional Free Spins when it lands during a trigger. The Chloé symbol triggers the Heist Mode when it lands in a highlighted position after all Avalanche wins are completed.
Features
Breaking into a Paris Museum takes more than luck, and Chloé has plenty of tools at her disposal. Avalanche Wins, expanding reels, position upgrades, Heist Mode, and two Free Spins modes all play a part, with each feature adding another layer to the heist. Here’s how they work.
Avalanche Wins
Avalanche Wins form the foundation of the gameplay. Whenever a winning combination lands, the winning symbols are removed from the grid before new symbols fall into the empty positions. If the replacement symbols create another win, the Avalanche continues until no further winning combinations are formed.
Every position cleared during an Avalanche is highlighted in bronze. If another winning combination lands in the same position, it is upgraded to silver, then gold, and finally diamond. These upgraded positions become increasingly important as additional features are introduced later in the game.
Expanding Reels
The Bomb Symbol introduces one of the most distinctive mechanics. When it lands, the symbol explodes and is removed from the grid along with all the regular-paying symbols. An Avalanche triggers, and a new set of symbols lands, potentially leading to a chain reaction of wins.
Where a Bomb lands determines whether the grid expands. If the Bomb Symbol lands on the edge of the reels, an additional row or reel is added in that direction before the Avalanche begins. If a Bomb lands on a corner position, it expands the row and reel simultaneously.
The grid can expand to a maximum of 8×7 during a single spin. A larger grid creates more space for matching symbols, while additional reel positions become available for the features introduced later in the game.
Heist Mode
The Heist Mode triggers when a Chloe Symbol lands while at least one highlighted position remains on the grid after a spin ends. Chloé launches her museum break-in, awarding three Heist Mode spins. Any Scatter Symbols that triggered the feature remain locked on the grid throughout the feature.
From this point, the reels look very different. Standard paying symbols disappear, and only Coin Symbols, Diamond Symbols and a collection of special modifiers appear. Coin Symbols, Diamond Symbols, Multiplier Symbols and Collector Symbols all remain locked on the grid until the feature ends, allowing their values to build throughout the bonus.
Coin Values
Bronze Coin Symbols are worth between 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x or 2x the stake.
Silver Coin Symbols are worth 4x, 6x, 8x or 10x the stake.
Gold Coin Symbols are worth 15x, 20x, 25x or 30x the stake.
Diamond Symbols are worth revealing 50x, 100x, 200x or up to 1,000x the stake.
Special Symbols
Multiplier Symbol – Every Multiplier lands with a value between 2x and 10x. Once Heist Mode ends, the multiplier is applied to the combined value of every Coin Symbol, Diamond Symbol and Collector Symbol on the grid.
Upgrader Symbol – Think of this as a chain reaction. Adjacent highlighted positions move up one tier, Bronze becomes Silver, Silver becomes Gold, and Gold becomes Diamond. Any neighbouring Coin Symbols increase to the same tier, Scatter Symbols become Super Scatter Symbols, and newly affected positions become Bronze positions.
Burst Symbol – The Burst Symbol targets positions that haven’t yet been highlighted. Depending on whether it lands as Bronze, Silver or Gold, those positions are immediately upgraded to the same tier. If the blast reaches beyond the current grid, the reels expand to include the new positions. When a Burst Symbol lands together with an Upgrader Symbol, both effects are triggered at the same time.
Extra Life Symbol – Awards one additional Heist Mode spin before disappearing, giving more opportunities for Coin Symbols, Diamond Symbols and modifiers to land.
Collector Symbol – Think of this as the vacuum cleaner Mode. As soon as it lands, it sweeps up every Coin Symbol, Diamond Symbol and any other Collector Symbol currently on the grid, adding their combined value to the running total. Those collected symbols disappear, but the Collector remains on the grid and can repeat the process if more values land before the feature ends.
Heist Mode comes to an end when no spins remain. Any values left on the grid are totalled and awarded as a cash prize.
Free Spins
Free Spins can be triggered by landing three Bonus Symbols, three Super Bonus Symbols, or a combination of both, once all Avalanche Wins are evaluated. The feature begins with five Free Spins, while every Super Bonus Symbol included in the triggering combination awards one additional spin.
The Free Spins continue exactly where the base game lefty off. The grid size during the triggering spin carries over into the feature, while any highlighted positions remain active until they are eventually used to trigger Heist Mode. Every core mechanic from the base game, including Avalanche Wins, Bomb Symbols, Expanding Reels, and Heist Mode are all available.
Additional Free Spins can be collected throughout the bonus. Landing a single Bonus Symbol awards one extra spin, while two Bonus Symbols, including those created during an Avalanche, award two additional spins. Bonus Symbols cannot be upgraded during the feature, regardless of any Position Upgrades or other modifiers that appear.
Elevate (Feature Buy)
The Elevate menu contains five Feature Buy options, each unlocking a different part of the game. Every purchase has its own RTP. As always, the Feature Buy is not available to UK players.
Bonus Hunt (50x) – Increases the chance of triggering the Free Spins feature for 50x the stake. RTP: 96.04%.
Guaranteed Chloe Symbol (5x) – Places a Chloe Symbol on every spin, increasing the chance of triggering Heist Mode. RTP: 96.09%.
Heist Mode ON (20x) – Starts Heist Mode immediately with three Bronze highlighted positions already active. RTP: 96.05%.
Tomb Service (100x) – Instantly awards the standard Free Spins feature. RTP: 96.09%.
Dig It (800x) – Instantly awards the Super Free Spins feature. RTP: 96.03%.
Verdict
In & Out is one of NetEnt’s most accomplished releases in recent years. The Parisian heist theme gives the game its own identity, while Avalanche Wins, expanding reels, Position Upgrades, and Heist Mode all work together to create a bonus system with plenty of depth. Nothing has been added for its own sake; each feature has a role and contributes to how the game develops.
The RTP of 96.08%, medium volatility, and 12,086x maximum win strike a balance between accessibility and payout potential. Heist Mode is undoubtedly the standout feature, although there is plenty to take in during the first few sessions. If you’re unfamiliar with Position Upgrades, Burst Symbols, Collectors, and the way they interact, it’s worth trying the demo first. Once you’ve seen the mechanics in action, the feature becomes much easier to follow.
NetEnt has taken the Avalanche mechanic that defines Gonzo’s Quest and developed it into something far more elaborate without losing sight of what made it so enjoyable in the first place. If you enjoy feature-rich slots with mechanics that build naturally throughout the game, In & Out is well worth a look.
