If you are a fan of epic 1980s action movies, then one of popular software developer Microgaming’s most recent releases is going to be well up your street.
Based on the classic film of the same name, the Highlander slot tells the story of Connor MacLeod, the hero who is locked in a battle with other immortals.
About the slot
A five-reel, 243 ways to win slot, Highlander immediately brings the much-loved movie to life from the second you land at it.
A gloomy, eerie Scottish Highland backdrop complete with mountains and dry-stone walls stands in the background, while characters from the film make up the high value symbols, with the lower values being represented by the traditional 10, J, Q, K, and A symbols.
Connor’s sword plays the part of the wild symbol here, and will substitute for all but the MacLeod Clan scatter symbol to help form winning combinations.
Gameplay
The scatter symbols have a couple of functions here, firstly, if you land two on the reels, they will turn into Wild symbols and any wins will be re-evaluated.
If you land three or more of the symbols, you will enter the Free Spins feature. For this round, you will receive ten free spins, and, although the feature cannot be retriggered, there’s an additional Quickening Wilds bonus that can lead to some big wins.
The Quickening Wilds feature randomly occurs during the free spins round, and sees lightning strikes turn symbols wild, with two lightning strikes each time, there’s some big wins to be picked up here.
If you are a fan of the original movie, then this slot is a must, but even if you’re not, then this Microgaming slot is well worth checking out, with its unique Quickening Wilds feature and excellent features and gameplay.
