Another Egyptian themed slot awaits us and this time we explore the resting place of the dead, with Egyptian Tombs, the April 2021 slot release from Snowborn Games in partnership with Microgaming. It features bonus symbols, free spins, scatters, wilds and a bonus wheel, and is optimised for play on desktop and smartphones.

Egyptian Tombs

With so many Egyptian themed slots out there, it’s hard to create a design that looks any different from the rest. But rather than being in the depths of a dusty tomb, we are viewing the Great Pyramids at night, under the clear moonlight. There are various star constellations in the background and a cool blue hue is the main colour.

The graphics are crisp and the reels sit nicely in the centre with a bonus wheel peeking out from the bottom left.

Symbols consist of J to A royals on stone blocks, along with a cat, Horus, Ankh and Cleopatra which have a higher value and worth up to 10x your stake for 5 on a payline. The scarab is the scatter and there is a wild which can substitute any regular symbol.

Gameplay and Features

The Tomb Bonus and Super Spins are central to the action. To trigger the Tomb Bonus, you need 3 scarab scatters on the 1^st, 3^rd and 5^th reels. The bonus wheel appears and delivers between 8 and 50 free spins. If you land 3 more scatters, this re-triggers and keeps doing so until you run out of free spins.

The Super Spins feature activates randomly and extra premium symbols are added to the reels, along with Wild Ra symbols to increase your payouts. The Ra symbol also acts as a scatter to win cash prizes. You can win 2, 5, 10, 100, 1000 or 10,000 your stake if you land 5, 6 7, 8 9 or 10 on a single spin.

Verdict

Snowborn have clearly tried hard to make Egyptian Tombs stand out from the over-saturated market. They have just about achieved this with the design and gameplay, so if you enjoy these types of games, it’s worth checking out. If you’ve had your fair share of Egyptian style slots, you’ll probably give this a miss.
