The reels are made from large ice blocks and to the side are further ice blocks with coloured gems within, and snow-covered tree branches.
The graphics are excellent with plenty of detail, especially on the actual symbols which are made up of 8 styles of gemstones, a Yeti and a female commander. The latter is the most valuable, paying 5x your stake for 6 on a payline. There is also a wild which can replace any regular symbol and a treasure chest scatter which triggers the free spins round.
Gameplay and Features
The cascading reels comes into play when you land a win. The winning symbols are removed from the grid and new ones cascade down to fill their positions and hopefully form another win. This repeats until you don’t land a win. During this feature, there is an increasing multiplier which starts at 1x and with each consecutive win, increases by 1. There is also a multiplier meter to the side to keep track of this.
Regular symbols can appear as mega 2×2 and 3×3 blocks and come crashing down to remove the symbols under, increasing your chances of forming wins.
To trigger the free spins round, you need at least 3 scatters to land anywhere on the grid. You’ll begin with 12 and each additional scatter gives you 3 more spins. During this round, if you have a non-winning spin, any wilds on the grid will explode and remove all symbols on that reel and row. New symbols then drop down and hopefully give you a winning combo. The increasing multiplier doesn’t re-set either, so you can pocket some decent wins here.
Verdict
The gameplay is similar to the other Crystal Quest slots but with the addition of the mega symbols. It’s a great design and a solid effort, well worth checking out.
