Blockbusters was a hugely popular mainstay of teatime telly back in the day, and Fremantle has brought the game back to glorious life in this online slot version. Hum along to the catchy theme tune as you get giddy on the Gold Run and enjoy the excitement of the Expanding Wild, which adds extra spice to the base game.
Games
The Blockbusters game board was a series of interlocking hexagonal shapes, and the reel set on this slot has been designed to reflect this. It has 5-reels, and the offset nature of the icons may make visualising the pay lines tricky to begin with, but they quickly become obvious the more you play. Winning combos begin when you land 3 or more identical icons from left to right on a pay line. Playing card symbols help to keep this game in slot land, while Blockbuster name and logo icons deliver on-theme payouts at higher levels.
Design
Blockbusters’ iconography is very distinctive, and a gift to the designers of this slot. Fans of the 1980s show will not be disappointed, and those new to the theme will find it just as engaging as ever. From the unique shapes of the blocks, to the blues, whites and golds that define the overall look, this slot has Blockbusters written all over it.
Bonuses and Features
Expanding Wild– as part of any winning combo in the base game the Wild will expand to fill the reel, bringing possible additional payouts
Gold Run Bonus – triggered when you land 3 or more Gold Run Scatters anywhere on the reels. Select adjacent hexagonal blocks to work your way across the reels and win cash prizes as you go. The Ext Bonus will end your fun, but if you make it to the other side you’ll receive a 2x Multiplier on all winnings – pick wisely!
