Wolf Gold Ultimate is the third addition to Pragmatic Play’s popular series of slots. The original Wolf Gold slot launched in 2017 and quickly became a player favourite. Then, the Power Jackpot version appeared in 2022, and now we have the Ultimate to complete the trilogy.

About Wolf Gold Ultimate

During the base game, Wolf Gold Ultimate plays on 5 reels with 25 active paylines. It’s available across desktop and mobile devices from 25p to £250 per spin. The default RTP is an excellent 96.53%, and it’s played with medium volatility for a max win of 5,000x the bet.

Wolf Gold Ultimate doesn’t stray far from the original in terms of design. It is set in the Rocky Mountains of America. The slot is brimming with wildlife including snakes and the great wolf the slot is famous for.

The reels are populated with low-value card suits; 5 on a payline awards 2x the bet. Cougars, horses, buffalo, and eagles represent the high values. The Wolf is the wild symbol and acts as a substitute. It also lands across all reels. The other symbol is the money symbol, it comes with multipliers, special values and unlocks the main feature of the game.

Wolf Gold Ultimate Features

Although Wolf Gold Ultimate does not have a free spin round, there is plenty going on to help you bag decent prizes. Let’s look at what to expect.

Money Symbols and Respins

The money symbols can land on any reel, and when they do, they have values attached, ranging from 4x to 1000x the bet. The multiplier is only available during the respins.

The respins feature triggers when 6 or more money symbols land on a spin. Once activated, the base game reels disappear and are replaced with three 5×3 grids and one 5×1 grid. Only money symbols are present during the feature, and each one that lands remains locked on the grid. 3 respins are awarded, and each new money symbol resets the respins to 3. To begin with, only one grid is active. The remaining grids unlock by landing 9 money symbols, then 18, then 32.

Money symbols also have special values; these include:

Collect – all the money symbols are collected from the same reel across all grids.

Plus Cash – Has a random value attached. The value is added to all the money symbols on the same reel across all grids.

Multiplier – The money symbols are multiplied by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x on the same reel across all the grids.

Buy In

80x the bet buts into the money respin feature.

Extra Bet

For an additional cost of 60% of your bet per spin, your chances of triggering the bonus doubles.

Conclusion

Wolf Gold Ultimate is an ok game if you’re a fan of hold-and-win games. It’s not all bells and whistles as the ‘Ultimate’ in the title insinuates, however it is worthy of your time especially if you are a Wolf Gold fan. Scrapping the free spins in favour of the special values is ok, but a free spins bonus would have been preferable, in my opinion. The trick is to unlock all four grids to reach the full potential of the game. And that seems like a long game to me. However, with Wolf Gold having such a huge status, I’m sure it will get the credit it deserves from loyal followers.
