A new release from Pragmatic Play in September 2022 named Wild Hop & Drop is a video slot inspired by frogs on a pond. Set within a colourful pond, its stunning visuals and comedy-style frogs will have you hopping mad as you spin the reels for the ultimate prize of 5,000x the bet.

Cantered around frogs on a pond, the visuals are highly appealing, without being over the top. To the left of the reels sits a huge from bobbing on a lily pad as you spin the reels. The soundtrack, although not offensive reminds me of fairground music which is quite bizarre for this theme, however, the pond life noises are apt.

Symbols include low-value royal card suits, along with 3 different coloured frogs. The green frog pays the most, 6 in a combination pays 4x the bet and 26 awards 200x.

A frog represents the wild, land 36 and you’ll win the top prize of 5,000x the bet. That’s not the only feature of the wild, it can grow as big as a 6×6 symbol.

Gameplay

Wins occur after landing 6 matching symbols on a spin. There’s only one bonus feature in Wild Hop & Drop the free spins round. You can buy into the free spins feature at the cost of 100x the bet, so if you are betting £1 per spin you’ll need to spend £100 for the bonus feature. (The buy-in is not available to UK players)

To gain access to the free spins without buying in, you’ll need 4 or more scatters for 6 free spins. A sticky wild begins at 1×1, it moves into random positions on each spin. As it moves around it collects scatters. After collecting four scatters the wild grows, here’s what can happen:

4 scatters, level 2 – 1-3 spins, and a 2×2 wild symbol

Verdict

If you are familiar with Push Gaming’s ‘Fat’ series of slots then you’ll be familiar with the mechanics of Wild Hop & Drop. The wild play’s a major role in the game, eating up scatters, ultimately growing to produce bigger wins. Overall, it’s a great slot with excellent graphics and a top prize of 5,000x the bet up for grabs.
