Voodoo Magic

Practice your hexes and curses with Voodoo Magic, a 5 x 4 video slot from developers Pragmatic Play, released early January 2021. This is a high variance slot with an RTP of 96.5% and features including free spins, wild, multipliers, scatters and symbol swaps. You can play from 20p to £100 per spin and it’s compatible on all devices.

Voodoo Magic Design

We are hidden within the voodoo priestess’ wooden hut, and she set to the right of the reels,  brewing her smoky green potions in her cauldron. There are various ingredients scattered about, such as voodoo dolls, eyes and snakes in jars. The soundtrack is a mystic tune that compliments the theme and overall, the visuals are really good. Graphics are high quality and it’s a nice overall design.

Symbols are the 9 to A royals as the lower values and the premium symbols are alligators, goat skulls, skulls and a female who looks to be in a trance. Premiums pay out from 3.75x to 10x your wager and you need at least 5 in a combination for a win.

Gameplay and Features

If you land at least 5 wilds, you’ll win 12.5x your wager and it also replaces other regular symbols. The scatters then trigger extra features. Land 2 and you’ll get 2 potion bottles appear, click on one to see which modifier you receive. One is fortune hex which takes away lower value symbols leaving only premiums, and the other is a mystery curse, giving you a random number of wilds.

If you land 3 mystery symbols, this triggers the free spins. You will get 3 cards to choose from which activate either the Voodoo free spins, which gives you a win of at least 10x your wager, the Super Voodoo free spins, giving at least 25x your wager, or the Mega Voodoo Free spins, with a win of at least 50x your wager. However, the free spins round can’t be re-triggered.

Verdict

This is a great looking slot and the guaranteed wins in the bonus round is a nice feature. The main criticisms are the maximum win limit of 1000x which is on the low side and the free spins are a little low.
