Viking Runes has a very eye-catching design with the 9×9 grid set against a snowy backdrop with the Northern Lights delivering a range of colours. There is a large Viking with a hammer to the side of the reels and a dramatic soundtrack to add to the atmosphere.
The symbols are made up of 9 different rune stones, the highest paying 1.5x your stake for 5 in a cluster, up to 1600x your stake for a cluster of 40. The graphics are excellent and everything stands out nicely on the screen.
Gameplay and Features
Every time you form a win, the winning clusters drop off the grid and new symbols drop down to fill their place and hopefully result in another win. If so, this repeats until no more wins are formed.
After each win, there is a lightning wild which changes position on the reels. You can have up to 4 lightning wild active during the base game.
A random Runic Shuffle feature can take place after a non-winning spin, where the runes are all shaken into a new position which can result in a win.
The Spell of Ancestor feature can trigger during the base game or free spins round and when it does, it transforms all lower value symbols into the red rune to increase your payout.
The Viking Sorcery feature adds 3 to 9 wilds in random positions, both in the base game and free spins round.
