Ancient Greece is always a popular slot theme and Thunder of Olympus is no different. There isn’t many background graphics to speak of, but the reels appear to be set against the bright blue skies in which the Gods reside. The framed reels have a dark blue background allowing the symbols to stand out nicely and along the top are the jackpot counters.
Symbols include the usual Royals as the lower values and are joined by Zeus and three more Gods and Godesses as the higher values. The Amphora is the wild which can substitute any other symbol except the scatter, which is the horn of abundance.
Gameplay and Features
In order to trigger the main Hold and Win feature, you’ll need at least 6 scatters to land. Those symbols are then locked in place and you’ll have 3 re-spins to start to try and form some wins. If you land more scatters, the re-spins start over again and this continues until either all the spaces are filled with scatters or you run out of re-spins.
The scatters also trigger the free spins round. 3 scatters give you 8 free spins and if during the free spins you land another 3 scatters, you’ll receive 8 more free spins. This can continue to be re-triggered.
Verdict
This isn’t a bad slot by any means. The hold and win, along with the free spins features keeps the excitement going for sure, but it is a little lacking in design and might struggle to stand out in the plethora of other ancient Greece themed slots. The low maximum payout is a little disappointing too.
