If you are a fan of classic cult movies, The Lost Boys, released in 1987, will be a familiar favourite. In August 2024, Blueprint Gaming released a branded slot based on the cult classic vampire movie, featuring a host of big stars, including Jason Patrick, Cory Feldman, Corey Haim, and Kiefer Sutherland.
About The Lost Boys
The Lost Boys slot relives the vampire theme, following a group of rebellious teens hunting down a gang of local vampires who are threatening their friends and family. Blueprint Gaming has again tapped into 80s nostalgia, following in the footsteps of successful titles, including Ted and The Goonies.
The design captures the dark, gothic vibe from the original film, set in the eerie Santa Clara amusement park. On the reels are the low-value card suits along with characters Sam, Edgar, Michael, and the ‘Lost Boys’ logo, which awards 100x for five of a kind. A Chinese takeaway box is the Wild, and the Scatter is a Vampire mouth with the text ‘Scatter’. There is also a Cash and a Collect symbol.
The Lost Boys operates on a 5-reel, 3-row grid with 10 fixed paylines. Bets range from 10p to £100 per spin. The Lost Boys is classified as medium volatility with a default RTP of 95% and a max win of 10,000x the bet.
Gameplay and Features
The game is packed with features, including Wild Multipliers, a Cash Collect feature, several modifiers, a Free Spins bonus round and a Rapid Fire Jackpot.
Wild Multipliers
Wild symbols in The Lost Boys can substitute for any standard symbol to help form winning combinations. Additionally, they come with multipliers that can significantly boost the value of any win they contribute to. These Wild Multipliers are integral to maximizing payouts, especially during the Free Spins feature.
Cash Collect Feature
This feature is triggered by landing Moon symbols on reels 1 to 4 along with a special Collect symbol on reel 5. When activated, it allows you to gather all the cash values shown on the Moon symbols, potentially leading to significant rewards. There are also various modifiers like the “Boost” and “Super Collect,” which can either increase the values collected or allow multiple collections during the same spin.
Random Modifiers
Throughout the base game, several random modifiers can be triggered to enhance your chances of winning. These include the Blood Lust feature, which adds extra Wilds to the reels, and the One of Us feature, which removes non-winning symbols, guaranteeing a win on the subsequent drop. These modifiers add unpredictability to the game, keeping each spin fresh and exciting.
Free Spins
The Free Spins feature is activated by landing three fang-themed Scatter symbols on reels 2, 3, and 4, awarding 10 free spins. During this bonus round, the Cash Collect feature remains active, and every three Collect symbols that land will increase the win multiplier up to 10x and award additional free spins. This feature is where the game’s potential for large payouts really shines, as the multipliers can lead to substantial wins, especially when combined with the Cash Collect mechanics.
Rapid Fire Jackpot
The Rapid Fire Jackpot set to the left of the reels triggers when 5 Rapid Fire symbols land anywhere on the reels. Once active, a Rapid Fire Wheel appears. The wheel is divided into segments, each offering a potential prize. The rewards range from stake multipliers, from 5x to 1,000x the bet, or one of five progressive jackpots. The jackpots are network-linked, meaning they increase with every bet on any participating slot.
Rapid Fire Jackpots
The Rapid Fire feature includes five progressive jackpots:
Mini Jackpot: This is the smallest of the progressive pots but still offers a decent payout.
Minor Jackpot: Slightly larger than the Mini, providing a more substantial win.
Major Jackpot: A significant prize, offering a decent win.
Mega Jackpot: One of the largest jackpots, promising a huge win.
King Jackpot: The most coveted and largest jackpot available, often reaching into the high six or seven figures.
Progressive Nature of the Jackpots
As part of the progressive jackpot network, the Rapid Fire Jackpots are designed to increase over time. For each bet, a player places on participating Blueprint Gaming slots, a small portion of the bet increases the jackpot pool. This means the potential rewards can reach staggering figures, especially the Mega and King Jackpots.
Conclusion
The Lost Boys is sure to attract fans of the cult classic movie of the 1980s. Featuring the Cash Collect and numerous bonus games, The Lost Boys is set to become a much-loved classic, just like the film. Even if you are not of the age to appreciate the 80s classic, the combination of excellent graphics, theme and bonus features is enough to have you chasing the deadly demons out of town.
