Slots called something Joker, or indeed Joker something, are a dime a dozen at this point, making it difficult to get too excited about a new one.
This is the issue that faces Star Joker, one of the newest offerings from popular software developer Play’n Go.
About the slot
With five reels and 10 paylines, Star Joker is playable from 10p to £100 a spin on all compatible desktop, mobile, and tablet devices.
A classic fruit machine feel greets you here, with almost, but not quite enough modern twists to make the slot feel up to date.
Bells, melons, plums, and more appear on the reels, while the Lucky 7 symbol is the highest paying, giving 100x your stake for five on a payline.
The star acts as the wild symbol, and as well as replacing all but the scatter symbol, will pay out an impressive 500x your stake if you manage to fill a payline.
The purple background adds a strong effect to the design here, but there isn’t quite enough going on visually for Star Joker to remain interesting for any decent length of time.
Gameplay
There’s only one big feature to speak of here, but it’s got a lot going on.
Land three scatter symbols (the Joker symbol) and you’ll trigger 10 free spins, while three more scatters will trigger another 10 for a maximum of 20.
These joker symbols will also double up as wilds, meaning there are two different wild symbols throughout the Free Spins feature, offering a bigger chance to pick u some tidy wins if you’re lucky.
Star Joker isn’t doing anything particularly special, it’s a steady slot, its attractive enough, and the gameplay has its moments, but it feels a few years out of date at a minimum, and that’s likely to turn a fair number of players off.
