The team of Microgaming and Just For The Win have released a few slots at this point, and they’ve received what can be best described as a mixed reaction from players.
However, what these slots do offer is some unique features, and that is especially true of Sidewinder.
About the slot
With five reels and between 243 and 1,125 ways to win, Sidewinder is playable from 10p to £100 a spin on all compatible desktop, mobile, and tablet devices.
This slot, as the name suggests, uses the Sidewinder feature that we also see in Rainbrew, with top and bottom wilds being added to the regular wild.
There’s nothing particularly special about how this slot looks, the 3, 5, 5, 5, 3 reel set is interesting, but we’ve seen it before from these developers, and they’ve added nothing new here.
The 8-bit retro theme does nothing to make the slot feel fresh either, less nostalgic, and more outdated in its tone.
Symbols on the reels include the four card suits, as well as classic fruit machine symbols including bells and lucky 7s, with the latter paying out the most, even if it’s only 8x your stake for five on a payline.
Gameplay
This game revolves entirely around the Sidewinder feature, which triggers when the top and/or bottom wild trigger the top and/or bottom reel, offering 576 ways to win for one reel unlocked, and 1,125 for two. This offers higher chances of wins, and should trigger fairly frequently.
Land three or four scatter symbols to trigger six or 10 free spins, which offer expanding wilds is a wild lands on the same position on both horizontal reels.
The Sidewinder feature is interesting enough, but it is not enough to base an entire slot on, and Sidewinder, as suggested by its title, has little else to offer.
