Just when you thought that the near countless number of slot games based on Ancient Rome was enough, here come Blueprint Gaming with another offering in the shape of Rome: Rise of an Empire.
It’s true that many themes for slots are popular with developers because they are popular with players, but some, such as Ancient Rome, have gone long past that point now, to the extent that it’s hard to get excited about a new slot that is based o the concept, can this Blueprint effort break through that?
About the slot
With five reels and 20 paylines, Rome: Rise of an Empire is playable from 20p to £500 a spin on all compatible desktop, mobile, and tablet devices.
The design here looks okay, but if you’re looking for anything unique to be added to the theme you are going to be somewhat disappointed, because there is nothing fresh about how this slot looks.
Gladiators, helmets, shields, and swords are amongst the predictable themed imagery, while the four card suits play the lower values, which feels lazy given the scope of imagery available within the theme.
Gameplay
The tiger can jump on the reels and trigger modifiers during the base game, including stacked wilds, streak spins, and more.
Land three of the bonus symbols and you will trigger the Bonus Wheel, which will gift you one of five features.
These include the Volcanic Cash Free Spins feature, which offers free spins and multipliers, the Big Money Bonus feature, a pick and click game, and three other features, keeping the game interesting.
It has always been Blueprint’s way to ensure that their slots are stacked with exciting features, and that’s certainly the case here, but with the derivative concept and the frankly boring design, it doesn’t feel like enough.
