Rise of Athena Design
Athena is the Greek Goddess of War and Wisdom and there is a Greek Mythology theme throughout. Set at the top of Mount Olympus, the reels are set within the large stone columns of a Greek temple. All the graphics are crisp and high definition, but it is a fairly simple design overall.
Symbols include the 10 to A royals as the lower values, and are joined by warrior helmets, scrolls, amphoras, Pegasus and Athena herself as the higher values. Athena is the highest value; landing 5 on a payline awards 150x your stake.
The wild is the W coin and substitutes any other symbols except the scatter, and they can also come with multipliers attached.
Gameplay and Features
The Owl of Athena symbol is the scatter and you’ll need at least 3 to trigger the free spins round, starting out with 12 free spins. You will also receive a pay out of 1x, 20x or 500x your stake for 3, 4 or 5 in a combination.
During the free spins, wilds can become sticky and can have multipliers up to 3x. With each spin, the multiplier reduces by 1x until it then vanishes from the reels.
If you land multiplier wilds on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th reels, they come with 1x, 2x or 3x multipliers. When multiple wild multipliers land, their values are combined and can give you up to 27x your stake on a win.
Verdict
All the action is with the multiplier wilds and free spins. In theory, with the right combinations, you should be able to win up to 40500x your stake, but this has been limited to just 5000x which is a shame. It’s a well-designed game, but we’re not sure if it will stand out among the plethora of other Greek themed slots.
