NetEnt is back with a new instalment in the Reel Rush franchise with Reel Rush XXXtreme, due for release on July 10, 2025. The original Reel Rush was launched in 2013, received an HTML5 makeover in 2018, and two years later, Reel Rush 2 was introduced. It’s a beefed-up version of the original with a similar layout but with a twist!.
Reel Rush XXXtreme features 5 reels with a 1-3-5-3-1 grid formation that expands up to 5 rows per reel, resulting in a maximum multiplier of 3,12x. It’s available on desktop and mobile devices from 30p to £600 per spin. The slot is highly volatile with an RTP of 96.06% and a max win of 8,130x the bet.
Design
Reel Rush XXXtreme is set in a cartoon-style forest packed with chunky trees and oversized mushrooms. It reminds you of the old Nintendo days and could easily pass for a lost level of Super Mario. The symbols pop with glossy texture and bright colours, and the multiplier display sits above the main reels set.
Wins land by connecting at least three matching symbols on adjacent reels from the leftmost side. You initially begin with 45 ways to win, which can expand up to 3,125 when the rows hit their full potential.
Symbols
The low-value symbols are round jellybeans in purple, green, yellow, orange, and red; these award 0.33x the bet for five of a kind. Wild Symbol

Verdict
Reel Rush XXXtreme is an excellent addition to the Reel Rush franchise. There’s real promise with each winning spin unlocking new positions, and the Mystery Features give it a jolt of unpredictability that makes it less repetitive. It has improved on earlier Reel Rush titles by refining the base game mechanics and providing players with more incentives to activate the features.
That said, it still feels like NetEnt fell just short of perfection. The volatility is higher than the max win justifies, which might leave some wondering why they’re risking so much for payouts that aren’t exactly headline-grabbing.
It won’t be suitable for new players. Expanding reels, multipliers, sticky wilds, and bomb-triggered extras mean there’s a lot going on. It’s worth playing in demo mode first to get to grips with the features before wagering real money. Once you have a clear understanding of how things work, it’s worth a spin or two.
