A slot from Play’n Go, Reactoonz has one of the oddest names we’ve seen for a slot game in a while, but it’s not only the title that’s different here.
A 7×7 grid is just one of many ways that Play’n Go have gone in a different direction for Reactoonz, a slot that is inspired by aliens and sees you aiming to catch clusters of them to win coins.
Reactoonz
Reactoonz developed by Play N Go is a cute, alien-inspired video slot played across a 7×7 grid. It’s a cluster-style slot with cascading symbols, and landing 5 or more matching symbols delivers a win. All the winning symbols disappear, and new symbols replace them, hopefully forming a new winning cluster and triggering another cascade.

Design
A group of animated aliens, some with one eye some with two or even three, peer at each other as you play the game. If you take too long to spin the aliens start chatting to one another, the aliens immediately engage with players the minute they load the game.
Reactoonz is extremely innovative, and the interactive aspect of the game became an instant hit with players. The slot is now 5 years old but remains one of the most played slots to date.
In terms of design, Reactoonz is one of the most innovative and immersive slots in the industry. The cartoon-style graphics ooze fun and add to the entertainment value.
Set on a bright blue background, highly animated aliens pepper the screen after falling from above to fill the grid. After landing a cluster of 5 or more matching symbols, they disappear from the grid and are replaced by new symbols. To the left of the reels is the bonus meter, after each successful win the Quantum Leap meter charges up delivering five different enhancements, but more about these later.
Symbols include 4 low-paying aliens, 4 higher-paying, and the wild. The wild only replaces low-value symbols to help form winning combinations.

Reactoonz Features
As for creating wins, Reactoonz uses the cluster pays mechanic, where landing 5 or more matching symbols either horizontally or vertically results in a win.
Cascade Wins
After each win a cascade occurs, the symbols involved in the winning cluster are removed from the grid and new symbols replace them. If you land another winning combination the cascades continue, these can be extremely lucrative.
The wild symbol is generated in one of two ways. One alien symbol may land with a glow of light surrounding it, if this symbol forms part of a winning cluster, two wilds are generated for the next spin.
The Gargantoon (brown three-eyed alien) can also generate Wilds, he can add between 4 and 8 wilds onto the reels anytime.
Quantum Leap Features
After each successful win, the Quantum Leap meter charges leading to 5 enhancement features.
The 5 Quantum meters charge one by one after each successful win. When the first meter is fully charged, an enhancement feature is triggered, these are:
Implosion – Anywhere between 3 and 6 symbols on the reels become wilds
Alteration – If this feature is triggered by the Quantum meter, a low-value alien transforms into another symbol
Demolition – All of the one-eyed aliens (low values) are removed from the grid
Incision – A wild is added to the middle of the grid, and matching symbols are placed across 2 diagonal lines with the potential of creating a winning combination.
Gargantoon
The Gargantoon is the symbol to look out for, he is the brown alien with three eyes. He only appears after all the four enhancements are complete. Once he appears he adds a 3×3 wild randomly to the grid. After each cascade, the 3×3 wild splits to become a pair of 2×2 wilds. If you get another cascade, it splits again into nine 1×1 wilds delivering much bigger payouts.
However, if you are unsuccessful and don’t get a win, one of the four enhancement bonuses triggers. During the enhancement feature, you can charge the meters again for more enhancements.
Instability Feature
During a non-winning spin, the Gargantoon can randomly add between 4 and 8 wilds to the grid.
Giantoonz Feature
By landing four matching symbols in a square formation on the grid (2×2) a Gigantoonz is formed. Wins are now doubled after a winning combination.
Fluctuation Feature
This feature chooses a random low-value symbol to become a fluctuation symbol (lands with a glow of light around it) on every spin. If the symbol is involved in a winning combination two wilds are added to the grid.
Reactoonz is a remarkable slot both in terms of graphics and features. It’s a fun, fast-paced slot packed with innovation and creativity and one of the best slots we have seen in years.
Conclusion
Although at first glance you may think Reactoonz is complicated, it doesn’t take long to get to grips with the features and enhancements (Try in demo mode first). Following the huge success of Reactoonz, Play N Go made the decision to continue with the release Reactoonz 2 and Dr Toonz. Nothing can replicate the stature of Reactoonz but the next two in the series come a close second.
Reactoonz 2
Fans of the original slot waited with bated breath for the sequel Reactoonz 2. Similar to the original, wins are formed by matching winning symbols in a cluster of 5 or more. The Cascades happen after wins, blasting the winning symbols away and replacing them to deliver the possibility of new winning combinations.
Gargantoon is back, handing out 3×3 wilds and reaching the 4th enhanced feature a 2x multiplier is awarded.
One of the differences between the original and the Sequel is that the RTP is slightly lower at 96.2% but the volatility remains high.
Another difference is the addition of the Fluctometer. If a low-value alien lands on the reels with a light glowing around it an Electric Wild is added to the next spin. Once an Electric wild appears on the grid the Fluctometer triggers into action. Once fully charged, Electric wilds are added to the grid anywhere between 1 and 3. This can happen multiple times.
If a non-wild symbol is replaced by an Electric wild the Quantumeter begins to charge. After 55 symbols are collected one of four levels is activated:
55 symbols activate level 1 awarding 4 1×2 Energoon Wilds
85 symbols activate level 2 awarding 1 2×2 Energoon Wilds
110 symbols activate level 3 awarding 1 3×3 Gargantoon Wild
135 symbols activate level 4 awarding a 2x multiplier on all Gargantoon wins.
The Gargantoon symbol acts the same way as in the original slot. After each cascade the 3×3 symbol splits into 2 2×2 Gargantoon wilds, they then break up into 9 1×2 wilds after another cascade.
The Wild Pair Explosion triggers once the above feature ends. If two Electric Wilds remain on the grid next to each other the feature triggers and all symbols barring the Wilds are removed from the grid. The symbols removed in the Wild Pair Explosion are worthless, however, they do help charge up the Quantumeter.
Reactoonz 2 was worth waiting for it’s a superb game packed with features while remaining true to the original. It’s probably best to play the game in demo mode initially as having two meters in play could seem complicated. Once you play for free and get to grips with the new meter and extra bonus features you won’t be disappointed.
Dr Toonz
Following on from Reactoonz and Reactoonz 2 the aliens are back with Dr Toonz in his lab creating all sorts of weird and wonderful experiments.
Dr Toonz is more of a paired-back, simplistic version of the first two. Although many aspects of the original slot remain the gameplay is much simpler to follow.
The Quantumeter only needs three charges to trigger the feature. During the Quantum Wild feature up to 6 wilds are added to the grid, this increases the number of winning ways up to 262,144.
Another addition to Dr Toonz is the free spins feature and this is the most rewarding. The Quantumeter starts off with two charges on every single free spin. Only one or two charges are required during the free spins to trigger the feature whereas in the base game three are needed.
