Free Spins take a different approach, storing Bonus symbols until the final spin before converting their positions into Wilds and potential Wild Multipliers. Nugget Ridge features a traditional 5×3 layout with 15 fixed paylines. Winning combinations form from left to right across consecutive reels, starting from the first reel.

Design and Presentation

Nugget Ridge embraces the traditional gold-mining theme without disguising its familiarity. A dry, rocky valley stretches beyond the reels, with timber structures, sparse vegetation and distant mining equipment establishing the frontier setting. Browns, dusty oranges and weathered wood dominate the base game, broken up by the warmer glow of lanterns and scattered gold.

The 5×3 grid resembles the entrance to an old mine, enclosed by heavy timber beams and rusted metal plates. Bags of gold sit beneath the reels, while lanterns hang at either side of the screen. Small details such as the paper Feature Buy notice continue the rough frontier styling without crowding the grid area.

The Free Spins provide the most noticeable visual change. Daylight fades into a dark blue night scene, with illuminated lanterns and fiery Wilds becoming much more prominent against the darker surroundings.

Nugget Ridge Symbols and Payouts

Nugget Ridge has eight regular paying symbols, split between card ranks and mining equipment. Three or more matching symbols from left to right form a win.

The lower-paying symbols are J, Q, K and A. Five matching symbols award 4x the stake, with all four card ranks sharing the same values.

A lantern, a pickaxe, a mine cart and a gold nugget form the higher-paying group. Five matching symbols award between 10x and 25x the stake, with the gold nugget returning the highest payout at 25x.

Two special symbols complete the paytable. The flaming W is the Wild, substituting for all symbols except the Bonus and awards up to 40x the stake for five. The Bonus symbol is the bomb that triggers the Re-Spin and Free Spins features.

Nugget Ridge Features

Nugget Ridge has a straightforward set of features. The Expanding TNT Wilds, Sticky Wild Re-Spins and Free Spins form the main mechanics. The TNT detonators create additional Wilds during the base game, while the Re-Spin feature transforms Bonus symbols into Sticky Wilds.

The Free Spins introduce the most distinctive mechanic. Bonus symbols are collected throughout before converting into Multiplier Wilds on the final spin, with several multipliers able to combine on the same payline.

Expanding Wilds

A TNT detonator can land during the base game and trigger the Expanding Wild feature if it contributes to a winning combination. The detonator expands upwards from its landing position, transforming the spaces above it into Wilds.

The additional Wilds substitute for regular paying symbols and can complete further winning combinations.

Nugget Ridge also features 2×2 Colossal Wilds, which occupy four positions on the grid.

Re-Spins

Landing two Bonus symbols in the base game triggers the Re-Spin feature. Both Bonus symbols transform into Sticky Wilds, remaining fixed in their positions while the other reels spin.

Each new Wild landing during the feature becomes sticky and awards another re-spin. The sequence continues as long as new Wilds appear, allowing more positions on the 5×3 grid to become occupied by Wilds.

Free Spins

Landing three, four or five Bonus symbols triggers 7, 9 or 11 Free Spins, respectively. Three or more additional Bonus symbols during the feature award three extra spins.

Every Bonus symbol is stored in the position where it lands, including those responsible for triggering the feature. On the final Free Spin, all stored positions convert into Wilds. If several Bonus symbols have landed on the same position, the resulting Wild receives a multiplier matching the number collected, up to 5x.

When more than one Multiplier Wild contributes to the same winning payline, their values are multiplied together. This places most of the winning potential on the final spin, when all the positions accumulated throughout the round come into play.

Feature Buy

Nugget Ridge includes a Feature Buy costing 60x the stake. Choosing the feature buy guarantees at least three Bonus symbols and immediately triggers the Free Spins feature.

Nugget Ridge Verdict

Nugget Ridge is more interesting to play than it is to look at. The traditional mining theme feels dated and does little to set it apart, but the Wild mechanics are its crowning glory.

The Re-Spins make good use of Sticky Wilds, while the Free Spins provide the anticipation. Storing Bonus positions throughout the round creates a natural progression towards the final spin, where Wild Multipliers interact across paylines. The RTP of 96.36% and 10,000x maximum win strengthen an otherwise conventional package.

Unfortunately, Originality falls short here. Mining themes and Sticky Wilds are familiar territory, while the presentation does little to give it a unique identity. The Free Spins mechanic is more distinctive, with Bonus positions accumulating towards that final spin, but it isn’t enough to make it stand out.

Nugget Ridge is unlikely to be remembered for breaking new ground, but strong Wild mechanics and a structured bonus round make it a solid Relax Gaming release.
