Hot Factor is a retro-styled slot game from Xatronic that is played out on a 4-reel, 3-row format. It offers multiple ways to win over 81 pay lines. This is not a game packed with features – there is a gamble feature, a Wild that can appear on all reels, and a Multiplier to be enjoyed with every 10th winning combo. Wins are fairly regular, and it’s compelling to watch the logo light up with each win and creep towards the Multiplier. This slot is curiously addictive, and definitely worth a few spins, but ultimately a little lack lustre.
Games
Classic symbols dominate the reels, with cherries, melons, oranges, plums, stars, bells, dollar signs and 2-row BARs all making an appearance. Play is snappy and the spins fast and short. In a departure from most slots, wins require you to land 4-of-a-kind across the reels, irrespective of which row – and the game pays out on all combos, not just the highest paying one. When the icons land well this can deliver cumulative payouts from a single spin.
Design
There is no soundtrack as such on Hot Factor, rather a selection of old-style effects with synthesised sounds accompanying the spins, and which stop abruptly when the icons land. Other electro-noises partner any winning action and the gamble feature. The Hot Factor colour scheme is mainly red, which figures, and the screen layout is very simple – logo, reels and control bar. There is little to distract you which makes for relaxing and enjoyable game play.
