First impressions are that it looks a pretty unique game. There aren’t any standard reels but instead it has 5 x 3 hexagonal interlinked blocks, but that’s just about where the uniqueness ends. The slot is set in a jungle with lush green trees and shrubbery, and a frog sitting in the middle of some kind of water temple. The graphics are nice and crisp and visually, it’s rather appealing.
Symbols include the lower value gems and shapes which vary in colour, through to the higher value animal symbols.
Gameplay and Features
Sadly, Frog Fortunes is light on features with no wilds, scatters or even free spins available. Instead, RTG have focussed on the exploding symbols feature. These exploding bombs can appear at any time and anywhere on the grid, and when they land, they explode in a random formation to form winning combinations. When the symbols explode, they, and all other symbols hit by the blast pattern, will transform into new symbols.
If there are wins on the grid after an explosion, a cascading symbol will then drop down all the reels to fill in the empty symbol spaces. This continues until there are no more wins left. This cascading win feature is only triggered after an exploding bomb and doesn’t occur in the main game.
Verdict
Initially, it looks like a great slot to play and it really could have been if more thought was put into the gameplay and the features. The exploding bomb feature is really brilliant, but it’s not enough on its own to make this a great slot. Teamed with the fact you can only win a maximum on 150x your wager, makes it a little disappointing.
