Merkur Gaming have done away with the traditional iGaming habit of attaching a clever name to a slot, and instead gone pretty on the nose with one of their latest releases, Dragon and Knights.

As the name less than subtly suggests, the war between medieval knights and fearsome, fire-breathing dragons takes centre stage here.

About the slot

With five reels and 20 paylines, Dragon and Knights is playable from 20p to £40 a spin on all compatible desktop, mobile, and tablet devices.

The design here is okay, the J, Q, K, and A filler symbols are never exciting to see, and the attempt to make them creepy to match the darkness of the theme just makes them worse here.

There are themed symbols too, including flames, maces, thrones, and more. The dragon and the knight both act as wilds, and substitute for all but the scatter symbol.

With a castle standing in the background and a fairly cartoon like theme (including an utterly dreadful logo) Dragon and Knights is a simple looking slot, which isn’t always a bad thing, but the simplicity here doubles up as dull and boring.

Gameplay

There are two special positions on the reels, one at the bottom of the first reel, and one at the top of the fifth.

If wilds land in the position on reel one, the Free Spins meter starts to fill, land a wild in the reel five position, and the multiplier meter fills.

Once the Free Spins meter is completely full you will trigger the Free Spins feature, which offers 20 free spins, every win here will be subject to the multiplier value of the multiplier meter.

This makes for some interesting gameplay, but even this feature can’t take away from the uninspiring feel of Dragon and Knights.
