Dead Man’s Crew is a video slot game developed by Slotmill and released on 29 September 2026. This time, the pirates arrive at a bustling tavern for a night of drinking and debauchery rather than pillaging fellow sailors’ treasures on the high seas.

Pirates are familiar territory for online slots, so Dead Man’s Crew needs more than rum, riches and a rowdy tavern to stand out. Slotmill has combined cluster wins with roaming Wild Multipliers that increase in value as the action unfolds. Although the theme may sound familiar on paper, the max win of 10,000x is a good enough reason to find out what this unruly crew has in store.

Technical Details

Dead Man’s Crew features six reels and six rows, although there are no paylines to worry about here. Instead, five or more matching symbols must connect horizontally or vertically to form a winning cluster. This gives the reels plenty of room for combinations to develop, particularly once the game’s Avalanche mechanic comes into play.

Bets range from20p to £100 per spin. ⚠️ However, due to strict UK regulations, slot stakes are capped at £5 for those aged 25 and over and £2 for those aged 18 to 24.

Dead Man’s Crew Design

Dead Man’s Crew makes an immediate impression with its excellent graphics and richly illustrated pirate tavern. The large 6×6 grid dominates the screen, surrounded by an impressive amount of detail. To the left, a rather menacing pirate sits at a table with a tankard of ale while counting his gold coins. On the opposite side, a roaring fireplace bathes the room in a warm orange glow.

The surrounding imagery does not overcrowd the screen or distract from the reels. The colourful, cartoon-style graphics are exceptional, while the contrasting light from the windows and fire adds depth to the scene. Dead Man’s Crew is an excellent slot, with plenty of visual detail to complement the lively pirate theme.

Dead Man’s Crew Symbols

The paytable is split into low- and high-value symbols. At the lower end are blue, green, orange and pink gems. Clusters of 20 or more matching gems award between 5x and 6x the bet.

The high-value symbols are the dice, playing cards, crossed knives and a frothing tankard of ale. The pirate is the most valuable regular symbol, awarding 20x the bet for 20+ matching symbols.

The Wild Scatter is a large W and substitutes for the regular paying symbols. Landing three or more triggers the Bonus Game.

Features

There are plenty of features and add-ons that show up throughout, including Avalanche, Wild Symbol, Feature Hotspot & Crew Features, Free Spins, Xtra-Bet, Burst Mode, and Feature Buy.

Avalanches

An Avalanche triggers whenever a winning cluster lands. The symbols involved are removed from the grid, allowing those above to drop into the empty spaces. New symbols then fall from the top to fill the remaining positions.

If this creates another winning cluster, the process continues until no new win is formed.

Wild

The Wild Scatter substitutes for all regular paying symbols. When it contributes to a winning cluster, the win is multiplied by the value shown on the Wild. Its multiplier then increases by +1x before the Wild moves to a random adjacent position ahead of the next Avalanche.

If multiple Wilds contribute to the same winning cluster, their multiplier values are added together. For example, two 3x Wilds produce a 6x multiplier.

The Wild also acts as the Scatter, with three or more triggering the Bonus Game.

Feature Hotspots & Crew Features

At the beginning of each spin, Feature Hotspots are randomly assigned to positions on the grid and highlighted by a blue frame. When a symbol on one of these positions contributes to a win, it triggers a Crew Feature.

Transform – Selects a symbol type once the current sequence of wins has ended and changes every instance into another symbol. The symbol that triggered the feature is also transformed.

Symbol Removal – Removes all instances of a selected symbol after the current sequence of wins is complete.

Mystery Trail – Sends the triggering symbol towards a target position after the wins have finished. The positions along its route become Mystery Symbols, apart from those containing Wilds. Each Mystery Symbol then reveals the same paying symbol.

Wild Spawn – Turns the triggering symbol into a Wild, along with up to two other symbols on the grid.

Hotspot Generator – Creates a new Feature Hotspot on the triggering position and up to three additional positions.

Wild Booster – Increases all Wild multipliers by +1x. This feature is exclusive to Free Spins.

Wild Doubler – Doubles all Wild multipliers and is also exclusive to Free Spins.

Extra Spins – Adds 2, 3 or 4 additional spins to the Free Spins round.

Free Spins

Landing three or more Wild Scatters triggers the bonus round awarding 8 Free Spins. The Wild becomes more valuable as any multipliers gained during a spin are carried over to the next and do not reset.

During the Free Spins, the Wild Booster, Wild Doubler and Extra Spins can trigger.

Xtra-Bet

The Xtra-Bet option costs 50% extra on the current bet and increases the likelihood of triggering Free Spins by approximately 1.9x. The RTP is 96.16%.

Fast Track (Feature Buy)

Fast Track provides four options to enhance the game. These include:

Dead Man’s Crew may have one of the oldest themes in the slot book, but the game has considerably more imagination. Cluster wins and Avalanches provide the foundation, while roaming Wild Multipliers and Crew Features ensure decent results

The Wilds are well conceived. Their multipliers improve as they contribute to wins, and carrying those values between the Free Spins adds an element of anticipation to the bonus. The Feature Hotspots add an element of unpredictability, as you never quite know which Crew Feature will appear or how it might alter the grid. Combined with roaming Wilds, they create plenty of opportunities for a routine spin to develop into something far more interesting.

Slotmill has also done an excellent job with the presentation. The bustling tavern is colourful, detailed and full of character, without allowing the scenery to overwhelm the action on the grid.
