Brood of Gods is a new video slot game from Light & Wonder that features three Māori gods – Papa, Rangi, and Whiro and these three contribute towards big prizes.
This slot game is unique in that it showcases the Māori culture, an indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand. In this review, we will explore the features, symbols, and gameplay of Brood of Gods.
Gameplay and Symbols
Brood of Gods has 5 reels and 5 rows, where players can win by landing 3 or more adjacent symbols vertically or horizontally. The minimum bet is 1p, up to £20 per spin. The default RTP is 95.99%, but players can opt for the version with an RTP of 94%. The volatility is med/high, and the maximum win is set to 1789X the bet.
Symbols on the reels include the three Māori gods representing the highest-paying regular symbols – Papa, Rangi, and Whiro. The low-paying symbols are the Green, Blue, Purple, and Red Aztec symbols. All winning symbols are removed from the reels, and the remaining symbols drop to the bottom of the reel set, potentially forming more winning combinations.
Brood of Gods Features
Brood of Gods has several features that can increase your chances of winning big. The slot comes with Wild Symbols, Multiplier Coins, Modifier Gods, Cleared Reels, Free Spins, and Bonus Buy-in (the bonus buy-in is not available to UK players).
The Wild Symbol replaces the middle position in a winning combination, substituting for all other symbols except Multiplier Coins.
During the base game, special Bronze, Silver, and Gold Multiplier Coins appear when a winning combination of 4 or 5 symbols is formed.
When 4 or more Multiplier Coins are collected, the Free Spins round automatically triggers. Each Multiplier Coin symbol awards a random cash value, and you can win up to 5x the bet.
The Modifier Gods feature can trigger during non-winning spins in the base game. Depending on which god is present next to the reel set – Papa, Rangi, or Whiro – they trigger and award their corresponding modifier.
Papa – transforms a random number of symbols into another random symbol from the paytable.
Rangi – selects a random 2×2 section of symbols and replaces each symbol with one chosen at random from the paytable.
Whiro – selects a random symbol from the grid, highlights all instances, and removes all unselected symbols, leaving only the selected symbols on the grid.
Free Spins
To trigger the Free Spins round you need to collect 4 or more Multiplier Coins during any spin. You are then awarded 5 Free Spins, and you choose one of the gods to be the modifier during the duration of Free Spins. The maximum RTP is only achievable by selecting the God Rangi when entering Free Spins. The selected god’s modifier will only trigger during any non-winning spin.
During Free Spins, the Multiplier Coin feature is active. Collecting 4 Multiplier Coins awards an additional +1 Free Spin, up to a maximum of 10. The Free Spins round starts with a 1x Multiplier Coin above the Collection Meter, and each Multiplier Coin has no monetary value but delivers a random Win Multiplier of x1 for Bronze, x2 for Silver, and x3 for Gold. Each winning combination is multiplied by the total Multiplier Coin values during this round.
Cleared Reels
If the entire reel set is cleared of all symbols during the base game or Free Spins round, an additional 1,000x the bet is awarded.
Conclusion
Brood of Gods is a unique and engaging video slot game enriched with features to potentially deliver exciting gameplay and big prizes.
