Microgaming have teamed up with Crazy Tooth Studios to brings you this pretty unusual slot named Aureus. It features respins, random multipliers, bonus symbols, a cash collector and random rewards, and is available to play on desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
It’s a medium variance game with an RTP of 96% and is played on a 3×5 grid. Bets start from 20p and rise to £80 per spin, with a top prize of 2431x your stake.
Aureus Design
Aureus is a Roman themed slot with very simple, yet stylised, cartoon-like graphics. There is a Roman temple with the Roman God Jupiter to the side, trees and blue skies in the background. It immediately stands out thanks to the more unusual graphics and the unorthodox 3×5 layout.
The semi-transparent reels consist of various coins with lower, medium and higher values ranging from £2 up to £200. There are also collection areas which are bracketed off to collect your winnings.
Gameplay and Features
As you play, various random modifiers and prizes can land. These include:
The Respin coin which gives you 2, 3 or 5 respins.
The Collect All Coin which collects all visible coins on the grid
The Collect Column Coin which collects all the coins on that particular reel
The Upgrade Coin upgrades all low and medium value coins to higher values.
The Multiplier Coin gives you a multiplier worth between 2x and 5x your stake.
You can trigger the respins up to 8 times and the collection area is active throughout the respins.
There is also a lightening feature which activates at random. Jupiter jumps into action throwing a lightening bolt and an open collection bracket onto the grid in the hope of forming a win.
Verdict
The design of Aureus is quite divisive; you’ll love it or really dislike it. Although the symbols are a little boring and there’s not a huge number of features, the gameplay is unusual and innovative, especially with the collection areas that come into play. Definitely worth a spin if you want something a little different.
