Willian Hill Sponsors ‘Football Shirt Friday’

 Throughout April, Willian Hill has been working alongside UK Charity, the Bobby Moore Fund. Working closely with the Moore family, William Hill acted as the official sponsor for ‘Football Shirt Friday’ on Friday April 22nd, 2016.

William Hill has been running the campaign in its shops and offices to highlight the importance of knowing the symptoms of bowel cancer, as well as leaflets and educational flyers aimed at reducing the risk of this devastating disease.On Friday 22nd of April, staff and customers in branches throughout the UK were invited to wear their favourite football shirt and make a donation to the Bobby Moore fund.William Hill hopes the campaign will bring in an additional £500,000 in 2016, the 50th anniversary of England’s epic world cup win in which Bobby Moore scored and captained the team.

William Hill CEO, James Henderson, wearing a replica 1966 England football shirt, joined Bobby Moore’s widow, Stephanie, Wembley Stadium’s Bobby Moore statue as ‘Football Shirt Friday’ got underway.They were also joined by William Hill ambassador and ex footballer Robbie Savage, and ex footballer Clark Carlisle, who ran the London Marathon two days later to raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund.Henderson said:“We’re proud to be partnering with the Bobby Moore Fund for this year and to be official sponsors of Football Shirt Friday”He continued:“Half a million people bet in our branches every week and among them are people at risk of developing bowel cancer, so we are using our UK-wide network to help the Fund increase awareness of the disease. We’re looking to raise £50,000 in addition to the £50,000 we’ve already pledged to the charity, to help the Fund achieve its fundraising goal in this special anniversary year.”
