Unibet Agrees Deal To Sponsor PDC Champions League

After a deal was agreed, this year’s inaugural Professional Darts Corporation’s (PDC) Champions League will be sponsored by Unibet.As a result of this agreement, the new eight-person darts tournament will be called the Unibet Champions League.

About the competition

Running from September 24th to 25th, 2016, the competition will feature the eight highest ranked players by the PDC after their World Matchplay in July.The eight competing players will be drawn into two groups, the two leading players from these groups will then go through to the semi-final stages, with the winners going on to compete in the Unibet Champions League final. 

Showpiece event

The competition will be covered on the BBC, guaranteeing extensive coverage. Unibet UK Marketing Manager Chris Watson said:“The Unibet Champions League is going to be a real showpiece event this year for the PDC, and the extensive BBC coverage will allow Unibet to reach a large audience of passionate sports fans with our brand.”PDC Chairman Barry Hearn is also excited for the competition, saying:“This unique tournament will be another great showcase for the ever-growing Unibet brand, and we look forward to working with them for this eagerly-awaited championship, which will receive huge national and international exposure through the BBC.”This is not the first steps Unibet has taken into the darts world, the company has already sponsored the European Championship and Masters and has signed up to be the title sponsor of the brand new World Grand Prix, which will take place for the first time in October of 2016.
