UKGC Suspends BGO Casino Licence
The UK Gambling Commission have suspended the licence of one of the most popular online casinos in the UK. BGO Entertainment, who operate BGO Bingo, BGO Casino, Vegas Luck, Chilli Casino and Power Spins, made the announcement on 15th October, asking affiliates promoting their brands, to stop with immediate effect.
‘Failure to Protect Consumers’
The UK Gambling Commission said they suspended the licence of BGO Entertainment in accordance with Section 118 (2) of the 2005 Gambling Act, claiming that the operator was carrying out activities not in accordance with the terms of the licence.
In their statement, the UKGC said “The review and consequent suspension follow concerns that activities may have been carried out contrary to the Act, not in accordance with conditions of their licence and that the Licensee may be unsuitable to carry on the licensed activities. Failing to protect consumers was a key consideration in the suspension decision.”
Previous Failings from BGO
This isn’t the first time BGO Entertainment have come under fire from the UKGC. Last year, the operator was forced to pay £2m and had restrictions imposed on its licence, after the UKGC said they had failed to carry out enhanced due diligence checks to look for signs of problem gambling among its players.
BGO Player Accounts
After the announcement was made, BGO issued a statement to inform players and affiliates of the licence suspension. They stated that although players were no longer allowed to deposit and activity on the site would be restricted, they would be able to access their accounts in order to withdraw funds and that customer service would be on hand to assist with anything.
They also confirmed they were working with the UKGC in order to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.
