UKGC Issue Press Release Regarding In Touch Games' Fine
Gambling operator In Touch Games Limited are the latest operator to find themselves on the receiving end of a formal reprimand and fine from the UK Gambling Commission, to the tune of £3.4million. Just this week, the UKGC issued a press release regarding the fine.
In Touch Games Limited operate a number of very popular online casinos including Dr Slot, Mr Spin, Pocket Win and MFortune. The fine comes due to a series of social responsibility failures and failing to carry out appropriate due diligence and source of income checks.
£3.4million fine
As well as a formal reprimand, the UKGC issued a £3.4million fine and issued a press release to explain the findings of their investigation. The UKGC stated that In Touch Games had failed to carry out the appropriate anti-money laundering checks and allowed players to use payment providers that used crypto currencies, without carrying out risk assessments on those players.
It was also found that there were seven players who were displaying possible signs of problem gardening, which In Touch Games failed to make contact with or consider setting mandatory deposit limits for them.
Lastly, the UKGC criticised some of the offers that were sent out via text message, claiming they were confusing and did not display the minimum and maximum limits.
Raising Standards in the Gambling Industry
The UKGC have been keen to crack down on any bad practices and ensure that operators take their social responsibilities seriously and do their utmost to protect players from gambling related harm.
Another operator, Nektan, is currently under investigation for similar breaches and at present, has their license suspended while investigations are under way.
Richard Watson, Executive Director for the UKGC said “Through our challenging compliance and enforcements activity we will continue to work to raise standards in the industry and continue to hold failing operators to account.”
