The Dark Knight Arrives At Playtech Casinos

The Dark Knight was (when Microgaming developed it) one of the most successful slot machines of all time. With a progressive jackpot worth millions of pounds up for grabs, top quality graphics and features, players were devastated when the slot machine was pulled a couple of years ago.

In the two years since Playtech has acquired the DC license which Microgaming lost, they promised us another Dark Knight game would rise from the ashes of the first. Over the weekend, we finally got our first look at it.

The Dark Knight is decent; there is no denying that. Is it as good as Microgaming’s The Dark Knight? No. Playtech were always going to struggle to top that game – any game by any developers would struggle, too. So, what does Playtech’s newest effort unveil then?

For starters, this is a 6-reel slot, and the 50 paylines it offers represent a huge change in format from the original game. It too contains four progressive jackpots just like its predecessor; however, these are worth vastly smaller sums than the Microgaming release. The game is cheaper, though, at just 0.20 per spin.

Slot Features

Playtech’s The Dark Knight slot also offers up several special features, but they are not as action-packed as its predecessor. The Joker or Batman can take centre stage in re-spin bonuses, during which wilds may lock onto the reels, or other symbols can become extra wilds, but there is nothing there that makes players sit up and take notice.

The free spin bonuses are arguably more promising. There are three of those (one for Batman, one for The Joker and one based on Gotham). Each has its own perks, such as locking wilds, colossal symbols or sticky wilds.

Again, The Dark Knight is a solid slot, but it still fails to eclipse the fame of its Microgaming developed predecessor.
