According to a new study conducted by finder.com, men are significantly more likely to drink whilst gambling online than women are. Ladies, on the other hand, tend to indulge in online shopping whilst inebriated.

Finder.com, who endorse everything from payday loans to travel insurance, found that 6.2% of Americans who spend money online whilst drunk end up on gambling sites. That said, of the 3,123 adults surveyed 7.1% bought clothes and shoes whilst under the influence and a further 4% bought movies and DVDs.“When people start drinking, they lose their inhibition and good judgment, and blow-outs tend to be on items that make them feel good,” finder.com CEO Fred Schebesta told Quartz. “Spending on clothing and shoes is often not a need but a want, and we give into temptation more often when drunk.”Men Drink More Than Women When Gambling Online

Overall, 9% of these drunken men spend money on gambling compared to just 4% of women.That study states that: “The average amount we spend in an unplanned booze-filled buying session is $139, but the total can vary significantly depending on our sex. Men on average spend more than four times as much as women ($233 in a session versus $54).”Apparently, the average American parts with $769 a year in exchange for alcohol, which explains the $179 billion domestic liquor industry. Alabama, Arizona, Idaho and Rhode Island are at the top of the list when it comes to alcohol sales.Meanwhile, online stores like drunkMall.com make their profits almost exclusively off drunk online shopping. “Drunken shopping is a money mistake we’d all prefer to avoid,” finder.com states. The site recommends that you avoid storing your debit or credit card information on your smartphone or computer, making it more difficult to spend money when drunk.
