Media review for William Hill
UK bookmaker, William Hill have announced that they are reviewing their media planning and buying accounts. This move comes about as the new changes for the gambling industries come into force.
Vizium UK have been in charge of the media and buying account since December 2011 and it is understood that they have re-pitched to run the William Hill account.
Ban on adverts
The betting industry has agreed to ban all betting adverts on live sports programmes shown before the watershed of 9pm from July 2019, excluding horse and greyhound racing. This is due to enforcing the ‘Code for Socially Responsible Advertising’, by the Industry Group for Responsible Gambling (IGRG) which was announced last December.
Sky UK have also confirmed that only one advert that is gambling related will be aired during the ad break during the 2019/2020 English football season.
William Hill are the first bookmakers in the UK to call for this strategy review, it remains to be seen how many more will follow.
William Hill appointed Charlotte Emery as Group Global Brand & Marketing Director, Charlotte was previously an executive for BAT Tobacco and Premier Foods.
