Regardless of your opinion on the matter, last week saw a historic moment for Britain, as the country voted to leave the European Union.The fallout from Brexit has been swift and terrifying for many, with the pound immediately falling to its lowest point against the dollar in decades, and many concerning for the future of the British economy long-term.However, Ladbrokes is staying cool, calm, and collected in the face of the Brexit news, saying that it will not be making any knee-jerk reactions as a result of the vote and its repercussions.

Unsure future

With Ladbrokes’ home looking set to leave the European Union, the company has said that it needs to remain calm and take time to think before making any decisions.Jim Mullen, Ladbrokes Chief Executive, has said that the result of the referendum has certainly made things interesting, and that there are now new questions and challenges to contend with. But he also stated that Ladbrokes must understand the implication of any decision before making it.Many bookmakers are expected to feel the effect of the weakened pound in the near future, as a host of International Affiliates are tied in with the pound in places like Malta, Denmark, and Germany.

Worries for Gibraltar

The largest worry in the way of the referendum concerns Gibraltar. It is a very real possibility that any operators based within Gibraltar may suddenly discover that they are no longer licensed to operate within the European Union.There is little that is known at this point as to whether this will prove true, but if it does it could cause serious problems for the operators who are based in Gibraltar.As for Ladbrokes, there will surely be a decision made in regards to how to handle the change in situation, but it may not happen any time soon.
