Ladbrokes declare Steve Coogan and Guy Martin to be serious contenders for Top Gear

The race is on to find a replacement for Chris Evans as the most prominent presenter of Top Gear. Funnyman Steve Coogan and motorbike racing professional Guy Martin have been declared the most likely to take over from Evans. Coogan and Martin are both 5/1 favourites to present one of the most popular television shows on the planet.
Chris Evans Quits
Chris Evans has been at the helm of Top Gear for only a matter of months, but declared just last weekend that he would not be presenting the next series. He said that he had done ‘his best, but it just did not work out’. What he means by things not working out is open to speculation, and it looks likely that there will be several views on why Evans has decided to leave.Ladbrokes has decided to get in on the Top Gear action by starting a betting opportunity for ‘Next Top Gear Presenter’. They have offered odds of 5/1 for either Steve Coogan or Guy Martin to take over the mantle. Both look to be likely contenders – Coogan is famous for his passion regarding cars.
Passionate Car Enthusiast
Martin is well-known for his daring and impressive motorcycle antics. Martin has not only won several races, he also rode the ‘Wall of Death’, which is further evidence of his ability to take showmanship right to the edge for serious thrills.Neither of the two possible new presenters have commented on the speculation that they may be in the running to present Top Gear. Steve Coogan has previously expressed his disdain at the presentation of the programme by Jeremy Clarkson, and described the show as ‘puerile playground stuff’.Although Guy Martin is a formidable presence in the world of motorcycling, he has little television presenting experience, and may not have the necessary clout to present a programme like Top Gear.It remains to be seen who will front the second series of Top Gear, but we can’t wait to find out!
