Playtech’s Gladiator Jackpot slot machine game has finally paid out, with the lucky winner bagging over £2 million in cash. The Gladiator Jackpot is a recently created slot machine, based on the original Gladiator slot which proved so popular. In fact, the progressive jackpot version of this game is virtually identical to the non-progressive version, although of course, with a considerably higher jackpot to win.

Gladiator Jackpot is based on the hit 2000 film starring Russell Crowe as Roman solider Maximus, who is turned into gladiator, out to seek vengeance on the Emperor Commodus, for murdering his family. The notable exception in this title is the lack of Maximus himself, although all other characters are presented as icons on the reels.

Big win for slot player

From the moment the game was released until just last week, nobody had ever landed the huge jackpot. The final total when the win came was £2,015,367; an extraordinary sum of money! However, the online casino has not yet released the details of the winner, and there is good reason to believe that with a jackpot such as this, the player might choose anonymity. The jackpot has now been reset to a still respectable £47,000, although if the popularity of this and its predecessor, the now-progressive slot simply titled Gladiator, are anything to go by, that jackpot will soon be rising.

A quiet period will likely follow though, the same as happened with Microgaming’s The Dark Knight slot after its progressive jackpot (which was even larger) was won.

Many large progressive jackpots up for grabs

There are currently a number of slot machine games out there on the market that offer considerably large progressive jackpots. Mega Fortune is a Net Entertainment designed and developed progressive slot that currently has a jackpot that dwarfs even the Gladiator Jackpot game, currently standing at just shy of £5 million. Even The Dark Knight jackpot which was recently won, has already reached over £1.6 million! There are plenty more, and some have not been claimed for quite some time, so surely it is only a matter of time before another big win is recorded.
