Gala Bingo again in the news for negative reasons

Poor old Gala Bingo can’t seem to catch a break, can they? Two weeks ago, it was the shocking shooting of a mother and son outside one of their bingo halls, which made the news. Last week, their name was linked with a possible drugs connection, as being the primary motive behind the shooting. This week, things aren’t getting any better for Gala Bingo, after some rather negative news has come about car park charges!
Park Life?
Although the implementation of car park registration first began in Scunthorpe’s Gala Bingo hall in November last year, it is only now that a ruckus has been caused. One visitor who drove to Gala Bingo in mid-January was absolutely furious to see that she had to pay to play bingo at their bingo hall.
Cause For Concern
What could possibly cause a fuss so many months after the move had begun? Well, Gala Bingo neglected to tell customers that their car parking spot needs to be registered. The car park does not offer machines to pay at, and instead, the women received a letter demanding payment.
The letter stated that she had to pay an £85 fine, since she had no registered her car with the bingo club, to prove that she was playing bingo there. If the fine was no paid within 28 days, Gala Bingo threatened to charge her a surcharge of an additional £20-£40!

According to Gala, all car parks have had notices up saying that you must register your car in order to park and play there. They insist that announcements were made during the bingo games too, about the changes in policy. Naturally though, any gamer not present in the run-up the changes, would not have received such messages. According to Gala, they are “only doing the same as any other leisure venue in the country.”
Many other angry bingo players have taken to Twitter and Facebook to complain of the charges, with many having received the fine. Surely with the bingo hall scene in decline, Gala would want to please players and keep them coming to the halls and not playing online? Somebody it seems should have told Gala about this, as many bingo players have sworn to never go back to the bingo hall!
