Paddy Power BetFair COO Leaves After 10 Years

Paddy Power Betfair Chief Operating Officer Andy McCue has announced that he’s going to be leaving the company on 30th April after a decade working for the company.

Paddy Power Betfair Merger

Andy joined Paddy Power back in 2006 and just last year he was made the gambling operator’s chief executive. Not long after Andy became the chief executive, it was announced that Paddy Power was going to merge operations with Betfair in a £6 billion deal, which was finalised earlier this year.It was Breon Corcoran, the former Betfair CEO, who took over this newly merged company and it was expected that Andy would one day take over from him, which is why Andy’s resignation comes as a surprise.

Pursue New Endeavours

Andy has said that he wishes the team at Paddy Power Betfair all the best and that he’s resigning from his post because he believes now is the time for him to pursue new endeavours. He also loved being able to work with people who made the company exceptionally successful and dynamic. Paddy Power Betfair has started looking for his replacement, though there have been no announcements yet as to who his successor will be.Breon has stated that Andy played a very important role in realising the merger of the two companies and that it was largely down to Andy that the merger was completed so successfully. Breon has also mentioned how when Andy was the Paddy Power CEO, he managed to deliver record profits and revenue thanks to successful growth strategies he had implemented. The merger of Paddy Power and Betfair created one of the world’s largest gambling operators. It’s expected to generate more than £1 billion in revenue in its first year of operation as a combined entity. As Andy put it, the Paddy Power Betfair business will continue to be greater than the sum of its parts.
