Become a warrior of Rome with Barcrest’s latest release
Barcrest have tried to make a move recently to more original and creative slots. They don’t come much more original than the 7-reel goliath that is the Soldier of Rome slot which debuted this week at participating casino sites. Aside from its completely nutty gaming structure, what else can be gleaned from a sneak peek at the Soldier of Rome slot?
About the slot
We know that there are between 50 and 100 paylines in the slot, the latter only coming with the universally detested Big Bet Mode that Barcrest keeps popping into their slots. We also know that the game uses both the Mighty Reels and the Money Burst engines from WMS Gaming to power their slot’s features.
Bonus features
There is also a Roman centurion who pops up as a wild symbol in this new game, and he can naturally replace all icons barring bonus and scatter icons. Unfortunately, wilds only pop up on the three Mighty Reels, although they can expand.
Players will also note that there is a free spin bonus triggered via three or more scatters. Both Mighty Reels and Money Burst features are active during the free spin bonus, and there is a Lightning Spin Bonus which can be won too, while playing this game.
To be honest, most players are getting a bit sick and tired of this casino software provider. Their games (while they are becoming more original) are becoming ever more complicated and complex. Your average slot fan doesn’t want to waste time reading a thick manual to learn how to play a simple casino game. Moreover, they aren’t impressed with the £20 and upwards Big Bet Mode requirement if you wish to play with extended payline structures.
Because of its overly complex features and its ridiculous Big Bet Mode options, we can only imagine that this slot will perform just as well as other recently released Barcrest slots, in that it won’t.
