Allwyn, the operator of the UK National Lottery, has announced strong financial results for 2024. It reported a significant 12% increase in annual revenue of approximately $9.6 billion (€8.8 billion, £7.4 billion). The impressive growth is primarily attributed to a substantial increase in digital sales, reflecting the operator’s successful strategy of enhancing its online and mobile products.
Digital Channels See Huge Growth
Digital channels experienced remarkable growth, with digital sales increasing by 20% year-on-year, now representing 39% of Allwyn’s total gross gaming revenue (GGR). The operator emphasised that its strategic investments in digital innovation and customer-focused enhancements were pivotal in achieving these results.
Adjusted EBITDA also showed positive momentum, increasing by 4% to €1.55 billion. However, Allwyn noted a slight decline in profit margins to 38.6% from the previous year’s 41.2%, attributing this to increased investment in modernising the UK National Lottery operations. The investments align with Allwyn’s commitment to revitalising lottery services following its takeover from Camelot in February 2024.
CEO Robert Chvatal highlighted, “Our results in 2024 reflect the success of our digital transformation and our unwavering commitment to improving customer experience. Our strategic investments will further strengthen the UK National Lottery, ensuring it remains vibrant and continues to support communities nationwide.”
Additionally, capital expenditures significantly increased, rising from €102.1 million in 2023 to €255.8 million in 2024. Allwyn’s significant investment highlights their commitment to improving infrastructure, creating new lottery products, and enhancing digital capabilities.
Allwyn Promise More Funds for UK Charitable Causes
Allwyn emphasised its commitment to community support and social responsibility, stating revenue growth would lead to larger contributions to charitable causes across the UK.
Moving forward, Allwyn remains focused on further enhancing its digital platforms and lottery products, firmly positioning itself for sustainable future growth and ongoing community engagement.
